ANKLE ARTHROSCOPY
Ankle arhtroscopy refers to the technique used by orthopaedic surgeons whereby they insert a very small (2mm diameter) camera into the ankle joint. It is a minimally invasive surgical procedure.
Your surgeon will perform this procedure if there is a possibility that your ankle joint is injured or diseased, or if you need to have bone or cartilage removed or tendons or ligaments repaired. As the surgeon has a direct view he will be able to identify the problem which may not have shown up on an x-ray or a scan.
FOLLOWING SURGERY
After the arthroscopy, you may have some pain and swelling for a few days. A course of physiotherapy is required and depending on your progress it is usual to resume normal activities after six weeks.
